    Military Resources

    Military One Source

The Department of Defense offers free confidential, short-term, non-medical counseling to eligible service members and their families. The counseling is offered for help with marital problems, parenting, stress management, grief and loss, and other issues. It’s available in several formats, including face-to-face with trained counselors who hold master’s or doctorate’s degrees in a mental health field, and are independently licensed.

Confidential services, including non-medical counseling and specialty consultations, are available through Military OneSource. Eligible individuals may receive confidential services at no cost Don’t be afraid that seeking counseling will negatively affect your career or your spouse’s career. Non-medical counselors can be trusted to keep your information private. A family member or a legal guardian of a service member’s dependents can use non-medical counseling sessions without the service member’s knowledge. The service member or other eligible family members would still be able to use their own 12 sessions.

You can schedule face-to-face, non-medical counseling by calling a consultant at 800-342-9647. If the consultant determines the service is right for you, up to 12 counseling sessions will be authorized and the consultant will put you in touch with a counselor that best suits your needs. The consultant may offer to schedule the first session.

Once you get authorization for a face-to-face session, you have 30 days to schedule it. If you’re not able to start your sessions within those 30 days, you can call Military OneSource to start over.

As a Military One Source provider, Dr. Discher, Ph.D. has the qualifications and experience to address the unique and specific issues our service members deal with, whether on active duty, inactive duty, in the Reserves or National Guards, or a retired veteran.

    Warrior Care Network

Since 9/11, 2.4 million brave men and women have deployed around the world to fight for our country. The percentage of those returning with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) is staggering. As these numbers continue to grow, it becomes more and more difficult for warriors to access timely and effective mental health treatment for PTSD, TBI and other invisible wounds.

Warrior Care Network® is more than a PTSD program, it is a first-of-its-kind partnership between Wounded Warrior Project® and four national academic medical centers of excellence including Emory Healthcare, Massachusetts General Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, and UCLA Health. In cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, this program will connect thousands of warriors with world-class care.

Warrior Care Network is a $100 million commitment to battle the invisible wounds of war by filling gaps in government care and reaching those who might otherwise go untreated. Wounded warriors will be connected with partner hospitals for evaluation and treatment options, enabling life changing PTSD help.

All treatment is provided at no cost to the warrior, and travel is provided at no cost to warriors and family members. Dedicated to providing veterans PTSD help, Warrior Care Network is a collaboration aimed at creating a nationwide, comprehensive care network that will enhance access and provide clinical and family-centered treatment to veterans needing treatment for PTSD, TBI and other related conditions.
